Spellbinder - 2001-01-07

Trevor was so entranced by Azari’s eyes and the warmth of her hands in his that he missed the warning signs. Her voice was so flirtatious, so completely delightful as she spoke of need and love. He wanted her, yes, needed her, oh, yes. Love? Hmm. That very well could be. Trevor had felt so certain that Azari had been interested in him that her next words came as a rude shock to his heart. It was all he could do to keep his mouth from dropping open in surprise. He had never been rebuffed by a girl so completely before. This was something entirely new for Trevor. He had just heard the three most undesirable words a man could hear from a woman. LET’S BE FRIENDS. He had no idea what he should do next, also a novelty for the young knight. Finding his voice he managed, "W-wait a sec...need you? Love? Hold on..." Trevor held up his hand and tried again, "I, uh, I guess I was hoping to get to know you better. I was hoping we could be, well, more than just friends." Then he thought about the dream. Here was Azari expressing her desire for a knighthood, almost asking for his help. What else could he do? "But, don't worry about me. I'll manage somehow." He gathered himself, recovering his dignity and continued, " In the mean time, I offer you any assistance in your quest that I can provide." Despite the disappointment he felt, Trevor couldn't help but admire Azari. She indeed had spirit and the heart of a warrior. He found his feelings for Azari deepen, his longing to have her growing. Was this love, as she had asked? And did she seem a bit confused? Almost as if she were battling conflicting feelings? Perhaps there was hope after all. Trevor rubbed his still aching head in confusion. He frowned as Azari mentioned Selene and Tiel. He wondered what they were doing. With a start he realized that the way Selene had treated him might be jealousy. Was she interested in Trevor? It was enough to drive a man insane! Women! What chance did a man have against their mysterious ways?

Trevor turned to walk to his horse, but he stopped and regarded Azari with a raised eyebrow. "By the way, just what IS your type?" He smiled and mounted his steed. He sidled his mount closer to Azari and said, "I cannot promise that you will be received with open arms at the Order. Though there are women in the ranks, they are the exception, rather than the rule. They got in because of the influence of men in places of authority. I’m afraid it is a predominantly male fraternity. I know a few knights who might be sympathetic to your, er, our, cause that may be able to help." He looked her intently in the eye, which under the circumstances was difficult. Those emerald green depths seemed to tug at his heart like no other. "You must work hard, harder than you have ever worked before if you are to have any chance at all." He gestured in the general direction of the town. "I know someone in town who has training facilities. We can work out there. I need to see what you know, if you can do more than just wave that sword about." He finished with a mischievous grin. He moved the horse even closer, his leg touching Azari’s. In a low voice he murmured, "This isn’t over between us. I don’t give up that easily." Trevor winked and with a grunted command to his horse he was off. He cast over his shoulder, "Are we going to go or what?"

Keleos went flying backwards into the hall, her breath escaping with a surprised 'wff!' as she slammed into the opposite wall. In another moment she was stalking back through the door with a snarl on her face.

"All right, little man," she snapped. "Would you like a chance to explain why you've just sent my plans for the evening to the flames of the abyss, or are we going straight into trying to kill one another?"

Gavin - 2001-01-08

Keleos returned surprisingly quickly, and looking very angry. Engra had no time to think over how he was going to continue. As she stalked back through the door he went into a slightly tense defensive position, read to move or cast any of a number of spells.

"All right, little man," she snapped. "Would you like a chance to explain why you've just sent my plans for the evening to the flames of the abyss, or are we going straight into trying to kill one another?"

"Excuse me?" Growled Engra at her patronising tone. "Did I ask you to knock down that door? How do you expect someone to react if they think they're being attacked?"

Engra glanced doen at Leydon. "I was having a... discussion with this gentleman when you burst in, but your arrival has changed everything, Keleos Kanari."

Before they could even think of leaving, there was an angry gasp from behind them. There, sitting on Starstruck, her murky eyes blazing, was Selene, with a rather puzzled Tiel behind her. "Who cares what they think? Not even friends? You'd leave without a second thought?" Her eyes blaze as she straightened in her seat, every bit the noblewoman she'd been raised to be, every muscle taut with her righteous anger. "I must admit I have severely misjudged you Sir Ainsley!" The scorn in her voice makes her stallion flick his ears.

"Where I thought I saw a decent, honest knight, there was in reality only a little boy intent on getting his own way, whether it be taking advantage of a drunken wench or leaving an unadapted lady, whom he'd said he'd protect, behind! You are nothing but a disgrace to the knighthood which you claim to be from, a pitiful, selfish, boarish, self-centered player! I have reasonable doubt to whether you really are a knight or just a simple, arrogant liar who only pretends to be to weasel his way into the company of those who'd not even spare him a glance at any other time! Either way I have no wish to be lowered down to your laughable level by being seen in your company! I will go my own way and hopefully find someone who is worthy of the title of the knighthood!" She took off the riding gloves she used, and, her eyes still blazing, promptly threw them at Trevor's feet. She had little doubt that even though he probably would not know the tradition of this, he'd get the intended message. In her court, to throw one's gloves at the feet of another was one of the highest insults, meaning that the one who'd thrown them thought nothing of the one they'd been thrown at. Indeed, it often led to a duel, whether it be of swords or some other means of combat, mental or magickal included.

Then, wheeling Starstruck around, she leveled her gaze at Tiel, her head still held high. "Lady Tiel, I would be most honored to have your company. Your performance alone have I been impressed with and I enjoy your companionship. However, if it is your wish to remain with this rabble" she gestured at Azari and Trevor with a dismissive wave of her hand, "I would not think badly of you or try to change your mind."

Leydon had not actually moved during the brief scuffle, but had instead watched as yet another person burst into the room that wasn't even his; and this weird wizarding bloke tried to claim the moral high-ground. This, he decided, was Not Happenning.

"I was having a... discussion with this gentleman when you burst in, but your arrival has changed everything, Keleos Kanari."

"Bollocks!" said Leydon, interrupting the man. "You burst in just as rudely as she did, and at least she has had the good grace to -not- put some stupid bracelet on my wrist."

Leydon gestured to the thing, then looked from intruder to intruderess. "If you two are going to have some sort of magical barney, that's fine by me. But please do me the favour of firstly removing this silly thing from my wrist and then letting me put a few miles in between us?"
